Konkola Blades Queens FC has appointed Enala Phiri as the new Head Coach, marking a significant milestone in the club’s growth and long-term vision for success in the Eden University Women’s Super Division.

The announcement followed a thorough search and evaluation process, with the club’s leadership confident that Phiri’s experience, leadership qualities, and passion for the game make her the ideal candidate to lead the “Sharp Razor” Queens into a new era.

Konkola Blades FC (KBFC) president, Davy Mubita, welcomed Phiri to the Blades family, expressing optimism about the impact she is expected to have on the team.

“As Konkola Blades, we are thrilled to welcome Coach Enala Phiri. Her vision aligns with our long-term goals, and we are confident she is the right leader to guide our team to greater heights,” Mubita said.

Phiri, a CAF-A license holder, is currently the first assistant coach of the Zambia Women’s National Team. She brings with her a decorated coaching career, having led the U-17 girls’ team in 2006 and served as the only female coach of the U-23 national team.

At club level, she previously managed Indeni Roses, Lusaka Dynamos Ladies, and NAPSA Stars Women’s teams.

Speaking on her appointment, Phiri said she was honoured to take the reins at Konkola Blades Queens FC and praised the squad’s potential.

“It is a true honour to join this club as Head Coach. I have watched the girls and see great potential in them. The team looks organised and eager to learn,” she said.

Phiri, who will be assisted by former KBFC physical trainer Chipulu Chileya, reaffirmed her commitment to hard work, team cohesion, and making fans proud.

“I promise to build a team that will fight for every point and make every moment count,” she added.

Konkola Blades Queens FC President Geoffrey Mumba confirmed that Phiri’s appointment is effective from the start of the 2025/2026 season and will run through the 2027/2028 season.

“This three-year deal gives her the mandate to consolidate the team’s position in the Women’s Super Division, following their successful 2024/2025 campaign that earned them promotion,” Mumba said.

He added that as the new season approached, the club remained committed to excellence, unity, and the passionate support of its fans, whom he described as “the heartbeat of the club.”
