The United Party for National Development (UPND) has reaffirmed its commitment to driving sustainable economic growth, promoting investment, and enhancing regional trade relations in Zambia.
Party Media Director, Mark Simuwe, said the UPND government remained focused on implementing policies that stimulate economic development, improve infrastructure, and create opportunities for both local and foreign investors.
Simuwe made the remarks during a courtesy call on Zambia’s Acting High Commissioner to South Africa, Inonge Mwenya, according to a statement issued by First Secretary for Press and Public Relations at the Zambian High Commission, Tamara Nyirenda.
He outlined key achievements under the UPND government to include the free education policy, revitalization of the mining sector, agricultural development, and enhanced food production for both domestic consumption and export.
“Zambia’s regional trade trajectory has improved under President Hakainde Hichilema’s leadership, partly due to the relaxation of visa conditions,” Simuwe stated.
He underscored the importance of strengthening bilateral relations between Zambia and South Africa to unlock new trade and investment opportunities.
Simuwe also cited increased Constituency Development Fund allocations and improved gender equality as key indicators of national progress, noting that these policies were enabling more Zambians to participate in the country’s development.
He further emphasized UPND’s commitment to ending political violence, a crucial step toward maintaining peace and stability.
“The UPND government has empowered communities through decentralized development, and continues to invest in roads, energy, and digital infrastructure to boost regional connectivity in line with the broader development agenda,” he added.
