Zambia’s Ambassador to China, Dr. Ivan Zyuulu, has underscored the need for enhanced global cooperation and coordination in tackling climate change and promoting intelligent, climate-smart manufacturing.
Speaking at the opening of the 3rd Sinoma Green Intelligence Summit in Hefei, Anhui Province, China, Dr. Zyuulu expressed appreciation for the opportunity to engage with industry leaders, government officials, academics, and diplomats in shaping the future of the cement sector through sustainable, low-carbon technologies.
In a statement issued in Lusaka on Monday, the Ambassador emphasized the importance of such platforms in driving policy reforms aimed at phasing out outdated, environmentally harmful technologies.
“Zambia possesses abundant natural resources essential for advancing green and intelligent development, aligning with the summit’s theme,” Zyuulu said.
He called for deeper cooperation, particularly with Chinese firms like Sinoma, to ensure effective resource utilization and knowledge transfer between the two countries.
Zyuulu also reaffirmed Zambia’s commitment to creating a conducive investment climate backed by strong policy frameworks, as outlined in the Eighth National Development Plan (8NDP).
“The 8NDP aims to accelerate the creation of a diversified and resilient economy, cognizant of the need for sustainable wealth creation and industrialization,” he said.
On the sidelines of the summit, Zyuulu met with Zhou Yuxian, Chairman of China National Building Material Group—the parent company of Sinoma—to explore opportunities for collaboration in Zambia’s agriculture, mining, and energy sectors.
The Chairman expressed readiness to partner with Zambian businesses, pledging the company’s commitment to supporting development across key industries.
The 2025 Sinoma Green Intelligence Summit, held under the theme “Green Intelligence Empowers Cooperation”, has drawn participation from diplomats, industry experts, corporate leaders, and international business partners.
