The Zambia Medicines and Medical Supplies Agency (ZAMMSA) claims it has procured and received Malaria Rapid Diagnostic Test (RDT) kits worth K155 million, marking a major step forward in the country’s fight against malaria.

ZAMMSA Senior Manager for Corporate Communications, Bradley Chingobe, said the kits are a critical part of Zambia’s malaria control strategy, enabling healthcare workers to make fast and accurate diagnoses for timely treatment and improved health outcomes.

In a statement issued in Lusaka on Saturday, Chingobe said the agency now holds a three-month stock and is finalizing logistics for a rapid and coordinated nationwide distribution.

He emphasized that the priority is to ensure health facilities—particularly those in high-burden and hard-to-reach areas—receive the kits without delay to strengthen frontline healthcare delivery.

“This development is yet another demonstration of ZAMMSA’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding public health,” Chingobe said.

He added that by securing and distributing high-quality diagnostic tools, the agency is reinforcing its mandate to ensure the continuous availability of life-saving medical supplies across the country.

“ZAMMSA remains dedicated to building a resilient health supply chain that supports universal health coverage and advances national development goals,” Chingobe said.
