A quiet courtroom momentarily shifted its focus to a 27-year-old bricklayer from Libala South, Edward Banda, as he stood before the Lusaka Magistrates’ Court facing allegations of possessing pornographic material deemed likely to corrupt public morals.
Banda, appearing before Magistrate Idah Phiri, denied the charge of possessing obscene materials, an offence contrary to Section 59(1)(a) of the Cyber Security and Cyber Crimes Act No. 2 of 2021.
According to the particulars of the matter case, the alleged offence occurred on March 22, 2025, in Lusaka.

It is alleged that Banda was found in possession of explicit images and videos that law enforcement officers said had the potential to corrupt societal morals.
The prosecution submitted that the content in question was retrieved from Banda’s mobile device following a report and subsequent investigation.
Magistrate Phiri recorded a plea of not guilty and adjourned the matter for trial.
